Homage to John Ritchie
for piano
2021 was the 100th anniversary of the birth of Anthony’s father, John Ritchie, also a well-known New Zealand composer.
The composer and pianist William Green sent Anthony a new composition to celebrate the anniversary, and this prompted Anthony to invite other composers who had known his father to do the same.
Anthony organised a concert of this piano music, also including John Ritchie's Suite for Piano (1955). The music was performed by pianists from Otago University, Tom McGrath and Terence Dennis, and videoed by The Centre for NZ Music. These can be seen by following the links below.
