My Father Today is from To Face the Night Alone (1990) Opus 42 for baritone, choir and orchestra, composed originally for the City of Dunedin Choir. The song was slightly edited and revised for inclusion in the print volume "Four Songs for Baritone" and a version for tenor is also available here.
The poem deals with the themes of loss and death.
