A cheerful piece for a wind group.
Making music brings people together in communities that can last many years. Giving Thanks celebrates that. It is sunny and bright in mood, with a lively middle section.
This piece was composed for the 2025 Waitaki Summer Music Camp, in Oamaru, on request from Paul and Kris Claman and Peter Adams.
It was written while the composer was recovering from an operation and undergoing chemotherapy. It gives thanks for all the support
the composer received during this challenging time from friends, family and medical staff. It also gives thanks for long friendships
with fellow musicians, some of whom attend the Waitaki Summer Music Camp on a regular basis.
The score is written with flexible numbers of players for each part in mind
