Cartoon: Fantasy for Oboe and Orchestra

by Anthony Ritchie, Opus 70c

A quirky but also soulful piece. Reasonably easy to play.

In 2016, the composer was approached by young oboist Noah Rudd to create a concerto version of the Oboe Sonata. The sonata itself had been re-arranged in 2002 from Anthony's Cartoon: Fantasy for Soprano Saxophone and Orchestra (written in 1996).
Rudd performed the concerto with the Auckland Youth Orchestra and also on tour, in Germany.

The Auckland performance was recorded and filmed by SOUNZ
